Our Environment

As a small business with an environmental bent we believe that if we act genuinely and locally we can minimise our impact on the environment and climate change.

All our employees live locally and enjoy the wonderful features of the Fleurieu Peninsula.     If we can ensure that as much waste as possible is consigned for recycling we can help protect our flora, fauna, waterways and coastline from potential further contamination.

Our approach to managing our environmental impacts involves taking affirmative action to continually apply the following principles:
   • remaining informed about environmental issues and recycling opportunities;
   • seeking to perform over and above legislative requirements;
   • avoiding, where possible, the use of goods and services that are non-sustainable;
   • minimising, re-using and recycling resources throughout our business activities;
   • teaching, practicing and embracing good environmental responsibility, and
   • communicating our environmental principles to key suppliers and other stakeholders.

We will continue to make practical adaptations to the way we run our business, while maintaining a firm appreciation of the needs of our customers and the level of service they expect.

Our Carbon Footprint

We have made a further commitment to the environment by working with Balance Carbon (www.balancecarbon.com) to measure, manage and mitigate the emissions we produce. This means we have committed to undertaking annual independent emissions audits, identifying and implementing emissions reduction strategies and actions, and purchasing certified carbon credits that replace or offset the equal amount of greenhouse gas that is emitted in the course of operating OZ Mini Bins. Although not required by legislation we have made a commitment to continue operating our business with zero net emissions.

Our Results!

With continuous improvement we have significantly reduced our emissions since measurement began in July 2008.
